Our Youth & Family Ministry

About Our Youth Ed:

Unity of The Blue Ridge is committed to providing an accepting, safe, and family-friendly environment where children and youth can express and explore their spiritual nature. This spiritual program engages and inspires all ages by inviting the Divine potential in each individual to grow and expand.

Five Basic Unity Principles

• God is all good and active in everything, everywhere.
• I am naturally good because God's Divinity is in me and in everyone.
• I create my experiences by what I choose to think and what I feel and believe.
• Through affirmative prayer and meditation, I connect with God and bring out the good in my life.
• I do and give my best by living the Truth that I know. I make a difference!

Nursery

Our nursery is a warm, safe, enriching space for infant to toddlers that is available during both morning celebrations at 9:15 and 11:00. Due to recent growth, we expanded our nursery and now have separate spaces and leadership for the infant to 18 month-olds and the 18 month to 5 year-olds.

UniKids - Elementary (Ages 5 to 10):

We have a class during the 11:00 service that uses the Unity and Interfaith curriculum. Children begin in the celebration with their parents and are blessed by the congregation as they are escorted to their class. Our rotating team of well-qualified teachers and assistants lead the children in stories, songs, and crafts that support a weekly affirmation. At this age, children are starting to build relationships with other children and adults. They like to move around and are learning to read and write.

Teen Ministry

Uniteens (Ages 11 to 13):
This is a newly forming group. By the fall of 2019 we expect to have new opportunities for this age group.

Y.O.U. (Ages 14 to 18):

This program for high school students is a peer-driven, Unity-structured group for teens during the critical high school years with adult sponsorship and guidance. They are learning to co-create their own journey in life using Unity Principles to develop a deeper understanding of their daily life. They support and share with each other and connect with regional and international groups. This fall we plan to hold monthly gatherings at 11:00 and at other times for special events, outings, retreats and service.

GirlTribe:

This is a special, monthly group for any teen girl, age 13-18. Led by Native American Elder and Unity member Sharon Oxendine, the girls will explore coming of age as young women with spiritual gifts and a sense of purpose. They meet on the 3rd Sunday of each month at 11:00 a.m. for 90 minutes.
